It was December 31st,  10:00 PM. There were 2 hours left before Christmas. Mulan and her family were in their big cozy house with a giant fireplace. The weather was cold and it was snowing. They were sitting at the table talking to each other filled with excitement, but a bit worried. They heard Shan Yu was still alive.

They forgot the main dish. They quickly got up and started running around. Everyone rushed to the kitchen and started to prepare the main dish. In about an hour they were done. It was one hour before Christmas.

Something unexpected happened. They looked to their right and they saw Shan Yu. They were scared and were about to run, but to their surprise Shan Yu gently asked  – “May I sit with you?” 

He even asked if they needed help. They were very surprised, but it turned out that he was a good person now and realized what he had done wrong in the past.

It was 5 minutes before Christmas. Mulan, her family and Shan Yu closed their eyes and made a wish:

Mulan wished for no more war.

Her mom and dad wished that the villagers would be happy.

Shan Yu wished that Mulan and her family would have a great Christmas and all their dreams would come true.

CHAPTER 1

Edward and Tom grew up together. Edward was still a King but Tom was a painter. He drew many beautiful things. It was Saturday morning, October 8, 1556 when Tom suddenly passed away. Edward was really sad. He cried for 3 days straight. 2 Months later he went to war with another kingdom. He required help because their enemy would outnumber them by their army size. King Edward found the Chinese kingdom with their female leader called Mulan. They teamed up.

CHAPTER 2

King Edward would train his army and Mulan’s army every morning. Mulan and Edward became close friends. 2 Months had passed. It was 31 December, the war day. King Edward’s army prepared for war. Suddenly the enemy king came to visit Edward. He said that the New Year was coming so they should not fight at that time. Edward  was shocked and also happy because today his army would not shed any blood.

CHAPTER 3

The kings and their armies celebrated New Year’s together in peace. They had a lot fun. All of them had joy in their hearts. Everyone was having a beautiful night. They spread a big table, they ate, drank, talked and had fun. The next morning Edward woke up. Everyone was drunk and was asleep except for Mulan. Mulan was outside looking at the sunshine. Edward woke everyone up because they had to leave. The enemy king said that it was the best day of his life and he would never attack Edward or Mulan’s kingdoms.

For me, I want everyone to have a good and a successful year. I really want to make this year even better. I want it to be successful and great at the same time.

August decided that he wanted to go to his grandma’s house on Christmas, because they had a garden, a big Christmas tree and many books for him to read. Christmas Eve came and they went out into the garden to shoot some fireworks into the sky. 

They went inside the house to check if they received any presents. There were many presents under the tree.  August wanted a puppy for Christmas. They started to open their presents and it was August’s turn. He opened it and it was a box. He opened the box and inside was a cat. 

The cat jumped on him and scratched him. His dad was a doctor.  He sprayed him with some anti-venom and the scratch disappeared.  He absolutely hated this Christmas. Even his mom was devastated, so she bought August a puppy.

He really liked the puppy. He never took his eyes off the puppy and one day he decided to give the puppy a name. He named him Chadwick. One day him and Chadwick were going in the streets to play.  A car came by and it crashed into Chadwick. Unfortunately he died right in front of August.  After that,  August didn’t speak again. He didn’t go to school.  

A year later on his birthday his mom surprised him with another puppy. He was really happy and it was a pit bull named Tiago. He was a really dangerous puppy. When he grew, Tiago made sure that he didn’t get bullied by his classmates. One day they went out to play basketball on the basketball court. Some kids came and tried to bully him, but they didn’t even stand a chance with Tiago protecting him. August and Tiago went back home and they lived happily ever after.

August made a few  new friends. They were kind, unlike Jack and Julian. He also knew Mickey who was a Ninja Turtle. He ate pizza and trained all day. When midnight struck, August was at a party with his new friends and they also invited Mickey.

\They had a party in the sewers. August passed out from too much partying and his friends thought he was sleeping and would wake up later. They left him behind at the party. When August woke up he noticed that he was alone locked in the room. He started to yell for help but no one heard him. He  realised he could go through the window and escape.

He found someone and asked for directions. Mickey was fighting against an evil robot. He used weapons to defeat the robot. All Mickey wanted was some rest. All August wanted was for no one to forget him.

It was a normal day. The year was 1973 in New York. August was playing on an Xbox. Mom said: “Honey, it’s time for breakfast!” August replied: “Okay, but what will we have for breakfast?”

We are having tea and a sandwich”, said mom. “No nuggets? Oh, whatever, sandwiches are good too”, said August. When they finished, it was time to go to school.

10 Minutes later, August and Via were at school. Summer saw August and said: “August, August come here!!! Look at this thing! It’s a travel clock.” August said: “Yeah of course, you are not lying.” Summer replied: “Fine, we are going to travel to a random time and random countries. Are you ready? Let’s go!” 5 Minutes later, Summer said: “The clock shows that we are in Tbilisi, Georgia and it’s the year 2023, 31 December.” All of a sudden the clock fell down and shattered. Summer was scared and did not know how they were going to get back home. A stranger approached them and invited them to his house. The stranger was…me – Nikoloz Mania!

We explored Tbilisi together and saw Sameba church, Qartlis Deda, Narikala fortress, Mtawminda, Mshvidobis Bridge and Mtskheta. In the evening, I invited them to a New Year’s dinner. August and Summer liked traditional Georgian food very much. They loved Khinkali, Churchkhela and Khachapuri. At midnight, we enjoyed New Year’s fireworks, but it was time to say goodbye to August and Summer. My friends did not know that I managed to fix the broken magic travel clock. When I showed the clock to them, they were excited but were sad at the same time, because it meant that we would never meet again.

Everyone should be home on New Year’s Eve, so we hugged each other and said our goodbyes. I will never forget August and Summer. They will forever be my friends and hope they will never forget me either. I will wait for their letter from 1974, New York. Strange right? No, not for me, because I believe in magic!

Crystal hello

Once there was a small family who lived in a forest. The family members were: Mulan, Via, Charles and Mercedes. The family had a big crystal halo and every New Year they put the halo on their heads and wished for whatever they wanted.

 In 2011 on the New Year, Via the youngest sibling wished for this halo to be gone. She really didn’t like the tradition of the halo because she believed that if she put that halo on she would get uglier each year.

The wish came true!

Via’s wish came true. The family heard about Via’s wish and they grounded her for a month. That meant not going outside and not using any electronics for a month. Via went to her room and Mulan went along with her. They sat next to each other and Mulan offered to help her find the halo. Via agreed and they snuck out.

Cave full of crystals

Mulan thought for a long time and decided to go to the crystal cave first, because the halo was made of crystals plus its the most logical place to search for it. Mulan and Via started searching for the halo. Finally they found it, but when they took a closer look at it they found out that one piece of crystal was missing. That makes the halo magical. The crystal type was clear quartz.

The mysterious man

They started digging everywhere, but they couldn’t find the piece. Suddenly they heard a sound from the cave, it was a mysterious man who was holding the piece of the halo they were searching for. Both sisters gasped when they saw it and told the man how much they wanted the crystal. It turns out that clear quartz is very valuable. 

The man was homeless, hungry and thirsty. All he wanted was food and water so they made a deal. Mulan and Via would give him food and the man would give them the crystal in exchange.

Missing piece was found!

Finally they got the missing piece back. They put the halo and the piece together and suddenly it glowed. That means it has recovered from the damage and now everyone’s wish would come true. The sisters arrived home and their parents looked terrified. They were very worried because they were missing. They hugged each other really hard and boom! They all turned into living beauties.

In August’s family New Year’s isn’t easy. People always make fun of him because of his family traditions. They all spend New Year’s together and dress up as their favorite Christmas movie characters. Children say mean stuff to August, things like “You should be a Grinch for Christmas because then you wouldn’t have to buy a uniform”. August always goes to his room and cries when this happens. 

This New Year he decided not to cry and to be confident since he doesn’t care about the bullies anymore. He was happier than ever on the 31^st of January because of this decision but he still has this dream to have a normal face like others and to not be judged. August helped mom make cookies for New Year. After that, he went into his room and wrote a letter to Santa. He said that he didn’t want anything expensive. He just wanted to not have a half damaged face. August hung the letter on the Christmas tree and put on his costume. He helped his mom set the table. At eleven o’clock August’s cousins and grandparents arrived. Everyone sat at the table and prepared some food for the poor citizens on the street who had nothing.

 August’s family recalled old memories and soon the clock struck twelve. They made wishes. August’s wish was obvious. He wished for a normal face. Everyone went out to hand out the food to the poor. Rich families were gossiping about August’s face. He made a promise to himself to not cry but it still hurt him. Suddenly, Santa came to him and gave him special candy to eat. When he ate the candy everyone saw him as an ordinary person. Santa winked at him and said “Happy New Year”. 

For 2023 I want to make new friends who are loyal. It’s pretty hard but nothing’s impossible. Happy New Year!

The battle in Mulan’s country was over, so Mulan rested. She decided to prepare for the New Year. She went to cut down a Christmas tree in the forest. To decorate the Christmas tree, she went around the city and bought a lot of toys, but she could not find any sword-shaped toys. 

It was a tradition because there are two army leaders in their family. Mulan was upset that she couldn’t get the toys she wanted. Mulan searched the attic and basement, but instead of the sword-shaped toys, she found pieces of them. She was losing hope when she decided to make sword-shaped toys with her own hands. She went around the city to buy materials. When she returned home, she also bought food. 

Preparations for the New Year began in the morning. She made sword toys until midday and spent the rest of the time decorating the Christmas tree. In the morning she started preparing food. She did a lot of cooking, because she had invited her mother, grandmother, childhood friends and army friends. When she finished preparing the food, it was night and she fell asleep. There were two days left before the New Year. Mulan wanted to create a beautiful New Year’s atmosphere for the guests. So she decided to make a little snowman from the leftover materials and it was beautiful. She thought that something was missing, so she went to the forest to kill a deer. She made a stuffed reindeer and stood in the entrance with Santa Claus. 

Mulan’s house was the most beautiful in the whole town. New Year’s morning dawned. Mulan and her mother spread a huge table. At that time, the traditional New Year’s songs were heard from outside. They looked and saw the whole town gathered in front of Mulan’s house singing carols. They decided that the whole city would celebrate New Year’s together. Everyone brought out their prepared food. This New Year’s was unforgettable for them.

Solleks was celebrating Christmas and also his birthday. Many dogs congratulated him, even Buck. Buck decided to celebrate Christmas and Solleks’ birthday with him. Buck decided to go to Solleks’ house with August. August has finally fixed his face, after so many plastic surgeries. When they got to Solleks’ house, Buck introduced August to him. They became friends. Even Mulan decided to show up after training with her dad. They celebrated Christmas at 00:00 and also Solleks’ birthday (His birthday is on January first). Solleks was very happy. There were cakes and balloons.  Solleks had many problems in 2022. He just wishes that 2023 would be a better year.

    After they celebrated, everyone stayed at Solleks’ house. After 8 hours they woke up and went to the cinema. Then they went to the theme park to ride the roller-coaster. It was evening and they went to the circus at 21:00. They had so much fun. 

This is how they spent their Christmas and Solleks’ birthday.

    My name is Giorgi. In 2023 I want to pass the test to get accepted into Ilia Vekua School and I also want to travel abroad. I have never been outside of Georgia and I want to experience what it’s like to travel beyond Georgia.

New Year

August was very happy, because New Year was coming soon. This year he was going to spend New Year’s in Georgia with his family and friends. He was in Bakuriani and they spent time in a small house. It was tiny, but they enjoyed it.

They were so happy. They got to play in the snow and slide down the snow. New Year’s morning they got a lot of Christmas presents and they shot fireworks into the sky. This New Year was the best ever.

I really don’t want much this year. I just want my brother to be healthy and spend a lot of time with him. I really want to meet my favorite actor Jenna Ortega. I want to spend time with her and get the chance to go to America.
