Tatia Tabagari – Books or Movies?

This is the comparison of books and movies. Many people will most likely prefer movies because they get to see what is happening in the story, so mostly books without movie adaptations are not very popular. I personally believe that books are better than movies for various reasons.

First of all, obviously the book is always the original source of the story. The movie adaptation may be completely different from the book. Graf Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas, is a movie with 2 versions: a Russian version and a French version. The Russian record is accurate, but the French version lacks certain characters.

A person who read the book first might be really confused after watching the movie, so there could be a chance that the watcher is unsatisfied with it.  Books also have far more detailed explanations than movies, which makes it more detailed and understandable. It’s a big difference. A movie lasts around 1 to 3 hours, but a book contains a lot of pages with more than 20 lines each.

With a book, you can delve deeper into the story, learning about character details and the main points. Meanwhile, the movie doesn’t allow you to do that, unless it’s very detailed, but this is very rare. Books allow minds to be creative and imagine the scene which is happening, that’s why reading is considered “freedom”, but in the movie, you can already see everything, so what is the point of imagining it?

Books are also educational. It’s better for young children to start reading first, before watching movies. Reading will improve their vocabulary and will have an effect on their language skills when they have grown up. Reading Graf Monte Cristo is crucial. Most children have most likely already read it. Reading also has other benefits, including exercising your brain, improving sleep, reducing stress, concentration, and the ability to focus.

In conclusion, books are educational, improve understanding, and are original and “rich” in words. Not only can you learn the story by reading, you can also gain good habits. Yes, movies do entertain you, but books can do that too.
