საკუთარი შესაძლებლობების რწმენამ ჯოან როულინგი მსოფლიოში გავლენიან მწერლად აქცია, მისმა უშრეტმა ფანტაზიამ კი შექმნა Wizarding world, რომელმაც ჰარი პოტერის ჯადოსნური სამყაროს ირგვლივ არაერთი ადამიანი გააერთიანა.

როულინგის ცხოვრებაც მისივე შემოქმედების მსგავსად ზღაპრულია. ცხოვრების ყველაზე მძიმე პერიოდში დაწყებული წერა და საკუთარ წარმოსახვაში აღმოჩენილი ძლიერი ზეგავლენის სამყარო მისი ცხოვრების განუყოფელი ნაწილი გახდა. ერთ დღესაც, მატარებლით მგზავრობისას, უეცრად მოუვიდა იდეა, რომელსაც გაუჩერებლად წერდა 4 საათის განმავლობაში. მას შემდეგ არ არსებობდა დღე, რომელიც ჰარი პოტერზე მუშაობაში არ გაეტარებინა და სწორედ წერა ეხმარებოდა ბევრი სიძნელის გადალახვაშიც. მძიმე დეპრესიის პერიოდში ჯოანს მხოლოდ საბეჭდი მანქანა და იდეა ჰქონდა, რომელიც ფურცლებზე უნდა გადმოეტანა. მას ღრმად სწამდა, რომ მისი ზღაპრული ფიქრები დღის სინათლეს აუცილებლად იხილავდნენ.

J.K Rowling Top Bestsellers List

J.K. Rowling, the author of the famous Harry Potter series, has taken the bestseller lists across the world by storm with her new book Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. It has charted in the top three in nine of the 10 Nielsen territories bestseller lists (February 2016 to February 2017).

The book generated the most sales in the United States, with 4.4 million copies sold. That said, one in every 45 Britons bought a copy in the eight months after its release, a striking figure for a medium-sized country. The Cursed Child makes up about half of Rowling’s UK value and 65% of her US volume. It helped drive up the sales of the original Harry Potter books as well. Her screenplay for Fantastic Beasts and Where to find them also sold well (370,724 copies in the UK and 690,336 units in the US).

The top 10 selling authors for the UK are mostly British, with only one American (James Patterson). The Americans, in reverse, only have two Britons (Rowling and Paula Hopkins). Yet, Rowling topped both lists.

Harry Potter illustrated edition

We still find ourselves unearthing new tidbits of info every time we re-read Harry Potter books.

The very first Harry Potter book was published in 1998, the same year that the Battle of Hogwarts took place.
Harry, Ron and Hermione unite the three different Ollivander wand core – That’s phoenix tail for Harry, unicorn hair for Hermione and dragon heartstring for Ron.

After Harry defeated Voldemort he lost the ability to speak Parse tongue Not that he had much of a cause to use it, but still, he lost the connection because it was linked to the shared bond Harry had with Voldemort.
We’ve actually all been saying ‘Voldemort’ wrong this whole time Yep – the’t’ at the end of Voldemort is actually apparently meant to be silent. The name comes from the French words meaning ‘flight of death’ so maybe try it out with a fancy accent next time you say ‘Voldemort’ out loud.
Origin of the Potter Name Harry’s oldest recorded descendent is a wizard named Linfred, who Muggles viewed as an eccentric old man who was always “pottering about in his garden with all his funny plants.” In reality he was inventing potions — like Skele-gro and Pepperup Potion — but they nonetheless nicknamed him “the Potterer,” which over time became just Potter.
The Sacred Twenty-Eight In the Harry Potter books, any wizarding family that only married others with magical blood — meaning, no Muggles — were considered “pure bloods.” Those families, like the Malfoys and the Blacks, were often elitist snobs who looked down on mixed blood families and even came up with the slur “mud bloods” to express their distaste. In Rowling’s new story, it is revealed that the Potters were excluded from the definitive list of pure blood families known as the “Sacred Twenty-Eight.” We always knew there were other pure blood families out there aside from the ones mentioned in the books, but It’s interesting to learn that the exact number is 28, although it’s worth noting that some may have been deluded over the years.
The Tradition of the Invisibility Cloak The mysterious and powerful invisibility cloak that Harry so often used in his adventures was left to him by his late father, James Potter. Apparently it is a long-standing Potter family tradition to pass the cloak on to your children.
Harry’s Scar – The Boy-Who-Lived was marked with a lightning bolt shaped scar on his forehead. It’s unclear as to why it was shaped like a lightning bolt.One popular assumption is that the bolt is in-fact made of two sevens. As we know 7 is the most powerful magical number in the Potter verse. It’s considered to be a nod to that itself.

13 Things About “Harry Potter” You Wouldn’t Know Without Reading The Books

This list is not a substitution for reading this magical series in its entirety. So hurry up and get started!

1. Pass the Moldy Cheese

Ghosts hold deathday parties to celebrate the day that they died. Harry, Ron, and Hermione attended Nearly Headless Nick’s deathday party on Halloween in their second year where they were served rotten fish, maggoty haggis, moldy cheese, and a tombstone-shaped gray cake.

2. Close One, Severus

When they were students at Hogwarts, Sirius Black intentionally lured Severus Snape to the Shrieking Shack when Remus Lupin was going through his transformation from man to werewolf, with the intention of Snape being gravely injured. But James Potter caught wind of the scheme and went after Snape and saved him.

3. Mooney, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs

Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew, Sirius Black, and James Potter were the authors of the Marauder’s Map.

4. Dad Problems

When he was a teenager, Voldemort killed his father, Tom Riddle, and his grandparents in their home in Little Hangleton.

5. S.P.E.W.

Hermione created an organization called S.P.E.W., which stands for the Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare, to stand up for the rights of house-elves.

6. The Phoenix Cores

The phoenix feathers in Harry’s and Voldemort’s wands came from Dumbledore’s phoenix, Fawkes.

7. “Remember my last, Petunia.”

After the Dementor attack on Harry and Dudley, Vernon tried kicking Harry out of their house. But Petunia received a Howler that said “Remember my last, Petunia,” which mysteriously made her allow him to stay. The Howler had been from Dumbledore and it referred to the letter he had left with Harry on the Dursley’s doorstep the night Harry’s parents died. That letter had informed Petunia of the charm that Dumbledore placed upon Harry that would protect him from Voldemort as long as he called Petunia’s house, where his mother’s blood resided, home.

8. The Longbottoms

Neville Longbottom’s parents lived permanently in St. Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries after being tortured into insanity by Death Eaters.

9. No Chance for Tenure

Hogwarts was never able to keep a Defense Against the Dark Arts professor for more than one year after Dumbledore refused Voldemort the position.

10. He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named-Unless-You-Want-To-Be-Killed

There was a taboo placed on Voldemort’s name where protective enchantments would be broken if the name was spoken so that the Death Eaters could immediately track and find the one who dared to say it.

11. What I Did for Love

While still alive, the Bloody Baron, who became the ghost of Slytherin House, was sent by Rowena Ravenclaw to retrieve her daughter, Helena, whom he was in love with. When Helena, who became the ghost of Ravenclaw House, refused to go with him, he became angry and stabbed her. Then, distraught with having killed her, he killed himself.

12. Sorry to Blow Up Your Spot, Petunia

As a child, Petunia Dursley wanted desperately to be a witch like her sister, so she wrote to Dumbledore asking for acceptance to Hogwarts, which she was respectfully denied.

13. Elder Wand

Harry mended his own wand with the Elder Wand before he got rid of it. The Elder Wand was the only wand in the world that could mend another wand because it was the most powerful. And for that precise reason, Harry did not want to keep it.
