Luka Dzodzuashvili – The Mysticism of Christmas

Philia Fogg, sitting in her favourite chair by the window, had strange thoughts.  The funny sounds coming from the street brought him back to his childhood. Christmas is coming, he thought.

After all, Christmas is a family holiday, when happy family members, happy to see each other, greedily inhale the scent of vanilla and cinnamon in the room and wait with bated breath to taste the desired Christmas cake.

That was before, when Phileas was still a child, but now what was left of Christmas?? He wanted to feel those emotions again, even if only for a little while.

Filias remembered that one day, he read an interesting book – “Guru Diaries”, where a young boy wrote with all his heart about the emotions and stories of his childhood. Suddenly, Filias wanted very much to come to this small and interesting corner of this small country and experience the mysticism, emotions and joy of Christmas.

There was one problem… a man who had travelled the world in various modes of transportation was afraid of the new invention of modern times, the airplane. However, the desire to communicate with childhood emotions, to get to know a new culture, country, interesting traditions or to taste dishes was so great that he decided to fight his fears.

After all, these are just silly emotions, and after that, a “magical” Christmas awaits me, he thought. He immediately put his hand on his hat and went to buy a plane ticket. Filias arrived in Lapland and walked along the beautiful streets filled with childlike excitement and nostalgia.

He felt that the magic of Christmas had already returned to his soul.
