Tekla Koroghlishvili – Christmas Essay

I want to talk about the difference between books and movies. The difference between them is that books provide children and adults with more information. In my opinion books and movies differ in the level of detail provided. In books, authors spend more time providing details of characters, events, objects and places. This helps the reader to create a mental image of the story. I prefer movies. A movie is a kind of art because when the actors act in a movie you can see all their movements, facial expressions and emotions. When you watch the movie you almost have no chance to imagine something on your own, because everything is shown to you. Books and movies are both adequate means of telling a story.

While the two make use of different technologies to communicate with an audience, they have some similarities. These include the use of stories and the reliance on characters to tell the story. However, the two have a difference in terms of the level of imagination required of the audience and the use of details. I can talk about the movie Harry Potter. What difference is there between the Harry Potter book and movies?  In this case the Harry Potter books are more elaborate and include details in the story while the movies have some of the plots omitted due to the lack of less screen time of movies. Also, not all the characters have been shown in the movies, or they only have a brief appearance, while in books, they are mentioned fairly often.

A Book or film’s success depends on its writer, screenwriter, director and actors. Comparing books and movies is a challenging task as both have their advantages.
