New Year was coming and everyone was getting ready. Every poor and rich family made decorations all over their living rooms. The Canty family was the only ones who did nothing because their father John Canty hated Christmas. It was always like that. One day Tom was hanging out with Prince Edward. The Prince asked what he was planning for Christmas. Tom told him that he never celebrated Christmas because his father hated it. The Prince was shocked and said: “How could anyone hate Christmas!”
The Prince invited him over to celebrate with his family. Tom told everyone about it except his father and they all went to the castle. His family was shocked and so happy when they saw the decorations in the castle. Tom told the Prince that if his father found out that they were celebrating he would become very angry and maybe kill them. The Prince assured him that his family was not in danger as there were many guards at the palace. Tom’s father returned home and found that the house was empty.
A neighbor told his father that they went to the castle. John arrived at the castle and tried to sneak in. The kids and the Prince were playing. Tom’s grandparents told the King and Queen that John often came home drunk. John snuck into the castle and the kids were scared. John locked the kids inside a room and wanted to set it on fire. Tom remembered that he had a knife and cut the ropes and saved everyone from John. John ran away and the guards could not find him. Tom had an idea about where John could be hiding. They went to search the nearby bar and found John in the basement. They captured him and threw him in prison. Everyone was safe and celebrated the New Year joyfully.
