Hello, my name is Ade (my real name is Adeola.) We have a new neighbor. No one is his friend because he is not an ordinary kid. Mum told me that he has had a lot of plastic surgery procedures to try and fix his face. I want to see his face very much. Gaia said that he was uglier than she imagined. Everyone said that he is so ugly, but I think he is a nice boy. I went outside to play football and the score was tied at 3-3. I had the ball. I was thinking that our team is going to win!!! My friends were shouting ADE! ADE! ADE! I saw our new neighbor and I stopped running and lost the ball. The other team won. They were very happy. My friends were very unhappy. They were talking to me, but I didn’t listen to them. I ran to our new neighbor.
-It’s a cold evening! Isn’t it? -I said.
-Yes, he said.
-What’s your name?
-I’m August and what’s your name?
-I’m Adeola , but everyone calls me Ade.
-Do you love pets?
-Yes! I have a pigeon and a dog called Ollie.
-I have a black puppy named Max too. I think that you are a good person so I’ll show you my face.
I wanted to see his face very much! He turned to me. He was not very ugly.
-Hi! -I said
-Hi! So, you have a pigeon at home?
-Yes, his name is Pigeon but he’s a cat.
-A cat?!
-Yes, I know it’s so strange.
-But why do you call him Pigeon?
So, I told him my story. I told him about the bluchers, salt, Dori, Obi, Gaia and mum.
He said –“WOW, you had a real adventure! It’s cool!”
-Are you in that school that is near here?
-No, I’m in my old school.
I looked at my watch and saw that it was 9 o’clock.
-Oh! I have to run home!
-What time is it?
-It’s 9 o’clock!
-Oh no, I have to run home too.
So, we ran home.
-Oh, you are my neighbor? -said August
-Yes, I’m your neighbor.
-Cool, bye!
-Bye!
I got home and said “Mom, I’m home.”
-Hi Ade!
-Mom I met August, our new neighbor!
-Really? Is he a good boy?
-Yes, we talked a lot.
-Are you friends?
-Yes.
-OK, now brush your teeth and go to sleep. Tomorrow is New Year’s Day!
On New Year’s Day all our neighbors celebrated together. August’s family brought a cake with strawberries on and that cake was in the form of an astronaut’s hat.
