Her realism, biting irony and social commentary as well as her acclaimed plots have gained her historical importance among scholars and critics.

Austen lived her entire life as part of a close-knit family located on the lower fringes of the English landed gentry. She was educated primarily by her father and older brothers as well as through her own reading. The steadfast support of her family was critical to her development as a professional writer.

Enjoy two film trailers adapted from Austen’s most popular novels, Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice.

Sense and Sensibility:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ns17RQr1yK8

Pride and Prejudice:

[731
57,977,982,182,976,1226,979,495,188,506,507,981,496,978,497,505,980,325
post-2636","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-whichbookwouldyouread-bookoftheweek-themes-themeoftheweek-quotes-inspirationalquotes","tag-books","tag-british","tag-december-2014","tag-english-book-in-georgia","tag-english-novelist","tag-interesting-people","tag-irony","tag-jane-austen","tag-literature","tag-mansfield-park","tag-northanger-abbey","tag-persuasion","tag-pride-and-prejudice","tag-realism","tag-romance","tag-sense-and-sensibility","tag-social-commentary","tag-theme-of-the-week","cat_731
["GET
