After studying languages at Oxford University, David Spencer trained to be a Secondary School teacher. He then moved to Spain where he has been living and teaching ever since. He continues to teach teenage students every day in a school near Madrid. 

Matt Hayes & Jonathan Hadley – Global Citizenship Education: What, why and how?

Matthew Hayes, BA (Oxon), MA (SOAS), is a doctoral researcher at the Institute of Education in London. His current research concerns Global Citizenship Education in English language textbooks and he has previously written on Robert Kennedy and the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Jonathan Hadley has worked in English Language Teaching for over 25 years as an English teacher, teacher trainer and curriculum/materials writer.

Rhona Snelling is a freelance ELT teacher, editor, and author. As a teacher, she qualified with International House and has extensive experience teaching English in private language schools and universities in Europe and Australasia.

John Cruft (11.30) and Steve Tulk (16.30) – Q&A – Students’ Global Skills

John Cruft (MA Education; Dip.TESOL) is the Regional Professional Development Senior Manager for Macmillan Education, Asia. He has been working in Asia for over 18 years as both a teacher and teacher trainer.

Steve Taylore-Knowles has spent twenty-five years in ELT as a writer, a consultant, a teacher trainer, an examiner and a teacher. We would like to thank you for attending the online seminars organized by English Book Education in partnership with Adelphi University on the 21st of July.

The first session “Nonverbal communication in Teaching”was conducted by  Dean and Professor Dr. Xiao-lei Wang, College of Education and Health Sciences at Adelphi University.

During the webinar the speaker discussed how teachers can take advantage of the nonverbal modality to help students learn, also how to use hand gestures, facial expressions, and body postures in teaching, and how to “read” students’ nonverbal communication cues and use them as an index in instruction.

The second session “Teaching with Zoom” was conducted by Dr. Melissa Randazzo, Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Adelphi University.

ვინ გახსენდებათ იმ ადამიანებზე, რომელთა არსებობამაც სამყარო უკეთესობისკენ შეცვალა? ჩვენ ვირჩევთ ანა ფრანკს,  პატარა ებრაელ გოგონას, რომელმაც საკუთარი დღიურით ამხილა ფაშისტური რეჟიმი და ბევრისთვის მაგალითად იქცა უსამართლობასთან ბრძოლაში.

მისი არსებობა მსოფლიოში მეტად რთულ პერიოდს დაემთხვა. იგი  სამალავში იმყოფებოდა  საკუთარ ოჯახთან ერთად და  დაბადების დღეზე ნაჩუქარ დღიურში მთელ სამყაროზე წერდა, წერდა ყველაფერზე რასაც გრძნობდა და  გაუცნობიერებლად წერდა იმისთვის, რომ კაცობრიობისთვის ბევრი რამ ესწავლებინა. საზარელი ფაშისტური რეჟიმის მიუხედავად ანა მაინც  ცდილობდა დაენახა  ყველაფერში კარგი, მას სწამდა, რომ  ადამიანები გულის სიღრმეში კეთილები იყვნენ.

ყველაზე მნიშვნელოვანი ღირებულება, რაც ანა ფრანკის ნაწერებს აქვს, არის იმ პერიოდის აღწერა, რომელშიც  მისი ტრანსფორმაციაა მოცემული, როგორ იცვლება მისი ფიქრები, დამოკიდებულებები და საკუთარი თავის აღმოჩენის საინტერესო ეტაპები.

სწორედ ანა ფრანკის დღიურები გახდა  თანამედროვე ახალგაზრდა მწერლის David Gilham ინსპირაცია დაეწერა “Annelies”, რომელმაც კიდევ ერთხელ დაგვანახა  ანა ფრანკის მიერ დატოვებული დღიურების მნიშვნელობა. ამ წიგნს განსაკუთრებულს ხდის  ავტორის გადაწყვეტილება, არ შეაჩეროს ანას სიცოცხლე და გააგრძელოს ის. წიგნი მოგვითხრობს ანას ცხოვრებაზე, საკონცენტრაციო ბანაკის შემდეგ. ის მამასთან ერთად ამსტერდამში გადადის საცხოვრებლად. სწორედ აქ იწყება ანას ბრძოლა წარსულთან. ის ცდილობს დაივიწყოს ყველაზე მახინჯი მოგონებები და დაიწყოს ახალი ცხოვრება.

დაახლოებით 30 მილიონზე მეტ ადამიანს წარმოდგენილი ჰქონდა თუ როგორი   ტრაგიკული დასასრული ექნებოდა ანას ცხოვრებას. დევიდ  გილჰემმა კი შეძლო და ეს ისტორია გააგრძელა, მან გადაარჩინა ახალგაზრდა ებრაელი გოგონა და რასაც დღიურებში წერდა მისი ცხოვრებაც იმ მიმართულებით წაიყვანა. როდესაც კითხულობ ამ წიგნს, შენ გინდა დატოვო იმ ფიქრით, რომ ანას სიცოცხლემ მოატყუა მისი სიკვდილი, ზუსტად ეს არის ის ძირითადი აზრი, რომლითაც იგი ბოლოვდება ბოლო ფურცელზე.

იგი თავის დღიურში აღნიშნავდა: „ყველაზე რთულია–მიუხედავად დარდისა და სასოწარკვეთილებისა გამოიყურებოდე და მოიქცე ჩვეულებრივად. Ⴑაუბრობდე, ეხმარებოდე, იჯდე მათთან ერთად და რაც მთავარია იყო “ცოცხალი“.

დღეს, ანას სიცოცხლე მისმა  დღიურებმა გააგრძელეს, რომლებიც გადარჩნენ იმისთვის, რომ ჩვენ წაგვეკითხა.
